Meet Shelley and the Adelaide Hub team

Shelley and our Adelaide volunteers connect donated food and care supplies with rescuers, wildlife sanctuaries and community organisations. The work includes organising collections and responding to requests for items that help with the daily demands of animal care.

A sanctuary’s guardian dogs need feeding alongside its wildlife. A rescue group may need litter, bedding and dog food in the same collection. Our team brings those useful donations together so the people caring for animals can collect them.

Helping Minton Farm with its food needs

When Minton Farm Animal Rescue asked our Adelaide hub for help, Shelley and the team responded to a request for tinned dog food for emus and rescued meat-eating birds in the farm’s care.

The farm also uses dry dog food for poultry and ducks, and some of the donation was intended for its Maremma guardian dogs. Petbarn Foundation and other food partners helped make the support possible.

Food for a sanctuary’s guardian dogs

Our Adelaide team supplied dry food for the two guardian dogs at Kangaroo Sanctuary South Australia, with support from Petbarn Foundation. The sanctuary was caring for 20 orphaned joeys at the time.

Our contribution was to feed the dogs that help protect the sanctuary. The sanctuary’s own team continued the daily care of the joeys, with one of its other food needs covered.

Three busy hub days

Our Adelaide volunteers once held three busy hub days within a week. Anna and Regina helped organise the work, with supplies going to rescuers and outreach organisations.

Whiskers and Tails, Fairview Lodge, ARK Rescue, Outreach NECAP and Cat Adoption Foundation were among the organisations involved. The collections brought different groups through the hub to take useful donations back to their own communities and animals.

The everyday collection behind a local network

Rescuers and outreach teams have collected raised dog beds, cat litter and dog food through our Adelaide volunteers. Those collections bring several everyday animal-care needs together in one pickup.

Our volunteers help organise the goods; the people collecting carry them on to the animals and households they support. Donations of food, bedding and other suitable items all have a place in that work.
