This week, together.

Week of 12 October 2026

Food for a rescue dog. A soft pouch for an orphaned joey. Supplies for someone caring for animals. ARC brings rescuers, makers, local hubs and generous partners together to turn offers of help into practical support.

Behind that work are people sorting donations, packing supplies, sewing and organising transport. Thank you to the volunteers and hub teams who keep showing up, and to everyone helping animals in their own community.

From our hub community.

Small things, made with care.

One of the stories behind ARC’s work comes from Bridgetown Wildlife Rescue. Shane Williams thanked Craft Guild maker Ella Plazier van Lavieren for milk crate pouches for the orphans in their care. It is a lovely example of a maker’s time and skill becoming something useful for a wildlife carer.

Across the Craft Guild, makers work alongside WIRES carers and many other wildlife groups, creating practical handmade items for animals in care. If you sew, knit or crochet, there is a place for you in that work.

Thank you for helping the helpers.

Thank you to Petbarn Foundation and its partners for supporting ARC’s work, and to WIRES for working alongside ARC to support wildlife carers. Generous contributions of food, supplies and handmade items help the people doing the caring.

To our hub teams, volunteers, makers, donors and rescue communities: thank you. Every offer of help starts with someone choosing to make a difference for animals.
