CALLOUT! URGENT NEED! ORPHAN JOEYS NEED YOUR HELP!🦘🫵🦘We need LARGE size🦘🦘🦘JOEY POUCH SETS!

The ARC Craft Hub have recently received a great many requests for the large size pouch sets...and now we have got only one large pouch set left!

There has been an increase in the number of orphaned and injured joeys coming into care due to road trauma, and they desperately need the warmth and security of a soft and cosy pouch to help them in their recovery.

This large size pouch suits just furred kangaroos and wallabies - little babies around six months old.

** If you could please make Pouch Sets - pouch plus 3 liners - and ⚠️Remember - liners MUST be 100% cotton flannelette OR 100% soft cotton ( to protect fragile baby skin) and please remember to use French Seams for the liners - HINT: Hem the top of the liner BEFORE French seaming for a smoother finish)
⚠️Please note ⚠️
When making all size pouches, the **OUTERS are made the SAME width as the LINERS**
We have been getting a few lately where the outer is much narrower than the inner.
To sum up:
🟡the OUTER is the same 📏 width as the LINER and generally cut ✂️ 5cm shorter than the liner.
➡️Get the patterns here:
https://craftguild.org.au/2020/05/04/joey-pouches/

📦 When you have completed your pouch sets, and are ready to sent them in, please complete the Craft Donation link below and one of our Craft Team will be in touch to let you know where to send it. Keep an eye on your ‘spam’ email in case it ends up there 🙃

"I cant look after them anymore? Can you help" This is the harrowing message yesterday. Can you take 12 Ewes.

We need 12 new sponsors to help take them in, donate here https://arcsupport.org.au/donations/orphanlamb/

Today ARC is helping Orphan lamb rescue farm as they have been asked to urgently take in 12 sheep, includes pregnant ewes, and 2 rams. This is a huge intake but we have to help.

Orphan lamb rescue provide a lifeline to abandoned and helpless animals who might otherwise be slaughtered or left to fend for themselves. Their work is massive, and takes in lambs, sheep, and even a puppy, providing them with a home and hope for the future.
But this has a cost. A bulk bag of pellets for $730, pregnant ewes and their lambs will use up a lot of that bag, $1,300 in bills for paddock poison, sheep drench, and more.

Next month's bill will have $280 on it for sheep/lamb immunizations, and milk milk, which costs $125+ per bag. They grow our own pasture hay, which costs $2 per bale to get cut, raked, and baled. They usually get 500-700 bales, which costs $1,000-$1,500. Purchasing it costs $8 per bale, so doing our own saves money. We also need to buy 30-50 bales of Lucerne hay per summer, which costs $15 per bale.

Rebecca at Orphan Lamb is committed to ensuring the wellbeing of our animals, and that means paying for a wide range of expenses that people often don't think about.

To donate click here and donate via the ARC Portal - https://arcsupport.org.au/donations/orphanlamb/

She will pick them up on Sunday. However, we are struggling to find a safe and suitable place for the rams, as they can be dangerous around children and other animals. We also need to find a shed for the ewes to stay in at night to protect them from foxes, and we have no idea when they will give birth.

As you can see, the work is not easy, and it requires a significant amount of resources, including financial support. Your donations can help us cover the costs of food, shelter, medical care, and more, ensuring that these innocent animals have a chance at life. Every little bit helps, and we are deeply grateful for your support. Thank you for considering a donation to Orphan Lamb Rescue.

“We had 5 Outreach organisation donation collections in the past few days. The first one had to leave some items as their car wasn't big enough for all of the donations we were able to provide!!!”
👷‍♀️Cindy and the team • ARC Adelaide SA

Outreach organisations play a critical role in addressing social and environmental issues that affect communities. These organisations provide vital services, resources, and education to those who need it the most, empowering individuals and communities to become more resilient and self-sufficient. They help to bridge the gap between communities and government agencies, advocating for the rights and needs of marginalised groups.

🟡ARC Animal Rescue Cooperative are supporting outreach
organisations by providing pet food to be distributed to dogs and cats of families and communities in need.
Supporting Outreach groups can help to create a more just and equitable society, while also promoting sustainability and environmental conservation.

Can YOU help us make a change for the good? - your support WILL change lives and save lives.
Please donate here:
www.arcsupport.org.au/donate

Here are just some of the groups Cindy and the team have helped in South Australia:

🤝 Lutheran Care. With 3 sites we were able to load up this outreach with enough goods that they had to leave some behind. They also got dog food, wipes, bird seed, Flea/tick/worm treatment, jumpers etc. etc.

🤝Oz Harvest. I'm pretty sure we support OH in other states, so its great to be able to add SA to the list of supporters for this fantastic, well known, organisation. Another massive load that will keep them going for a while!

🤝Vinnies Women's Crisis Centre. We know the difference our support will make for the clients of this critical service. 🤗🤗🤗

🤝Uniting Care Wesley Bowden. First collection from this outreach and they were overjoyed. They support a wide cross section of the community but they genuinely understand the importance that animals play in people's wellbeing.

🤝The Port Church Inc. Another first timer and so grateful. We rebagged for them but they will do it themselves next time. Every week they have a community dinner to get people together and give out hampers, which will now include ARC dog food!

for continuing to support these important programs for those in need.
Just Cats are an important major rescue group in Tasmania. Anyone who takes on council and trapping work deserves all the support they can get as it is a real and very hard job.

Just cats run programs and support at scale. They are a community-oriented organisation with a mission to advance the welfare of all cats and kittens by:

- providing shelter, food, veterinary treatment, affection and security to rescued, abandoned or surrendered cats and kittens
facilitating adoptions

 - providing boarding facilities, including crisis care
promoting responsible cat ownership in the Tasmanian community through education, training and support.

We were so grateful to have Just cats visit the hub yesterday and we managed to cram the Getz full of supplies and support for the team, as much litter as we could fit, some mixed medical and gloves and of course a UV torch.

The hub team is working across every rescuer in Tasmania large and small, and for us it is a priveledge to be able to support them with small help when we can.

Thank you to Rachel and all the Just Cats team for visiting!

“I just received a beautiful phone call with a very happy ending and thought I would share 🙂
One of our flood cats - 14 year old ladies’ man Thomas - who SWAM HIS WAY through flood waters to be rescued and taken to Goonellabah vets, was placed with a beautiful Byron Bay foster carer, Sandra, in mid March.

I just got a call from his extremely grateful owner Ina, to say ❤️they're back in their home in Lismore and Thomas is settling back in with them really well.

Ina is so thankful for what the ARC Flood Support Animal Foster team did.

She said it made their life so much easier knowing Thomas was with a loving, peaceful foster family.

The foster carer wouldn't accept any money so Ina is making a donation to ARC in gratitude for the much needed support. AWESOME WORK, TEAM! ❤”

WELCOME TO THE ARC CRAFT GUILD!

AND - WHAT’S NEEDED MOST! ARC Craft Hub Update • March 2023

Our mission: to bring comfort to every animal in Australia; to save lives, improve care, reduce the burden on rescuers, and bring global awareness to their plight.

The 2019 Black Summer bushfires torched Australia and showed us that animal rescuers needed supplies above and beyond anything they had needed before. Millions of people and dollars have since been leveraged to equip us for whatever comes next - fires, floods, or pandemics.

The Craft Guild is a global community of innovative creators that work together to make custom supportive products for animals in need. Through this, we save lives, improve care, reduce the burden on rescuers, and bring global awareness to the plight of animals in Australia.

ARC and the Craft Guild, supported by the #PetbarnFoundation and WIRES, help to keep rescuers supplied with essential food, medical, and craft through our hubs located all over Australia.

Donations assist with our postage costs to send craft and medical supplies to carers all around Australia free of charge, and also to assist carers and rescuers to purchase essential items for the animals.

FUNDRAISING ITEMS

The ARC Craft Guild assists animal rescues in raising funds by providing craft items for them to sell at fetes and market stalls. If you would like to sew, knit or crochet animal-themed ( ie: Australian Wildlife, dogs, cats) crafted items, we will pass them onto these very appreciative rescue groups to help them raise funds for their activities.

We have a few patterns in the Files section on our Facebook page. You will also find many free patterns online and Pinterest.

Feedback from our wonderful wildlife carers is that the larger sizes of most craft wear out more quickly as the animals are larger, have longer claws, and are far more active. So if you’re not sure which size to make - go large or bigger. Smaller sizes can be made from the left over fabric.

FOR OUR INTERNATIONAL MEMBERS

Many animal rescues worldwide appreciate custom crafted items. In view of the significant cost of posting items to Australia, we strongly encourage you to enquire with and support your local organisations first.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

ALWAYS READ INSTRUCTIONS carefully and FOLLOW THEM. Incorrectly made items take a lot of time and effort to fix, and requirements are specific for a reason.

Please, please, please, read and follow the instructions! If you have any questions please ask and wait for an Admin to reply.

√ All pouch outers need to be accompanied by 3 liners made out of 100% soft cotton or cotton flannelette.

√ Liners MUST MUST MUST have French (enclosed) seams and a U shaped bottom. Outers should also be made this way. HINT – hem top first before French seaming. If you have an odd number of pouches, send them anyway, and we’ll find a home for them.

X No hand sewn items, no items that are not high quality. Crafted items go to tiny babies with big claws and need to be VERY safe and very washable.

√ Get kids involved by making cards, drawings, or decorating with permanent marker. Please remember sewn/crocheted/knitted items need to be of very high quality..

X Do not pin notes or labels to items -- tape or ties are fine. We are always concerned that we will miss a pin and that runs the very real risk of hurting animals in care. (This includes safety pins.)

📸Small Paws Animal Rescue
All of the Sydney animal shelters and pounds are now collecting companion animal food donations from Sarah and the team at ARC Animal Rescue Cooperative Leichhardt Hub.

With thanks to #PetSupportDonation from #PetbarnFoundation, ARC are getting food to hungry dogs and cats in need.
These food donations assist with feeding animals in their care, and free up funds otherwise spent on pet food to be used to improve their shelters or buy much needed equipment.

Dog and cat shelters are important to animals and the community because they provide a safe haven for abandoned and stray animals. These shelters ensure that animals have access to food, shelter, and medical care, while also protecting them from harm and abuse.
They also play a critical role in promoting animal welfare, providing educational resources and outreach programs that help to prevent animal cruelty and neglect.
By rescuing and rehoming animals, these shelters also help to reduce the number of stray animals on the streets, improving public health and safety in the community.
In addition, they provide a valuable service to people who are looking to adopt pets, helping to match animals with loving and responsible owners who can provide them with a forever home. ❤️

“I pray for a day when they'll understand,
The importance of trees, and all that they command.”
In a move that sees the importance of the environment come to the forefront, Australian Ethical Investment have sold their Lendlease shares over its planned development that impacts one of the last healthy koala colonies in NSW located near Campbelltown in South West Sydney.

From Australian Ethical:
“Ultimately, if the Stage 2 of the Mt Gilead housing development goes ahead as proposed, we believe we won’t know if the koalas will be adequately protected.”

How it feels to lose your home - by A Koala.

“I am a koala, and my home is a tree,
A towering beauty, tall as can be.
Its leaves are my bed, my shelter, my food,
And I love it so much, it puts me in a good mood.

But now, the humans are coming,
Their machines and their noise, they're never-ending.
They cut down trees and clear the land,
To make room for houses, it's all so grand.

I watch in horror as they destroy,
My home, my sanctuary, my greatest joy.
The tree I've known my whole life,
Gone in a flash, it cuts like a knife.

I try to find a new place to rest,
But everywhere I go, it's just more distress.
The houses keep coming, there's no end in sight,
I feel so helpless, it's such a fright.

I wish the humans could see,
The damage they cause, it's just not easy.
For creatures like me, who depend on the trees,
To live and survive, it's such a disease.

I pray for a day when they'll understand,
The importance of trees, and all that they command.
For a home destroyed, is more than just that,
It's a loss of life, it's sadness, it's flat.”

⚠️Wildlife Are NOT Pets ⚠️
“These two bubs came into care today..They were abandoned at a rental property in Collie WA...the people ..just left them...💔”

🖊 Please share this post/comment your experiences/thoughts

This week’s story comes from Shane at @BridgetownWildlifeRescue in Western Australia

“This is Candy and Socks - two Western Grey Kangaroo joeys 🦘❤️ 🦘

Their story needs to be told, shared and re-shared to raise awareness EVERYWHERE so that the ignorant cruelty that happened to Candy and Socks never EVER happens again to any wildlife.

Let's hear their story:
“The little boy Socks, is 9 kgs and the little girl Candy is 6 kgs..
Both should still be with their mum 💔
In the wild, they would be spending 1 -2 hours out of her pouch. Still under their Mum’s supervision. They would be having multiple feeds a day.

The lovely lady who runs the farm found them in the abandoned house .....and her beautiful daughter brought them to me today

Until a carer could be found, the next door neighbour who is 83..went over to the house..and lit the pot belly stove for them every night..because it was so cold...
She fed them a bottle in the morning and one at night....from the biolac she found in the house..
What a beautiful lady to do this...

I asked the ladies daughter to name the bubs....The little girl is Candy..and the boy is Socks...

They are a little scared..but doing ok...xx”

You can donate to help ARC continue to help wildlife like Candy and Socks here: https://www.arcsupport.org.au/donate

This is a sad story that happens all too often when misguided members of the public selfishly choose to keep wildlife as household pets - always causing suffering, and usually resulting in a tragic outcome for those animals. Exactly as happened to this poor helpless little one.

Bridgetown Wildlife Rescue has had many different wildlife species handed into them - when people who have tried to keep them as pets realise that ‘Wildlife make Terrible Pets’ and that they were totally out of their depth trying to raise one.
Western grey kangaroo joeys ... black glove wallabies...a lot of possums... and magpies - just to name a few. These animals and birds are always compromised- and often dying - by the time they are surrendered.

In Western Australia, No-one - not registered carers or members of the public - are permitted to keep any wildlife as pets.
If a member of the public or an unlicensed carer finds wildlife they MUST be handed over to a registered shelter, carer, vet or wildlife officer. If you don't surrender wildlife within 72 hours you will be prosecuted and fined $2000.
This is for any wildlife in your possession. You MUST be licenced.
Wildlife carers or members of the public have to apply for, and have approved, a special licence: “APPLICATION FOR FAUNA POSSESSING (OTHER PURPOSES)
to enable them to keep wildlife for the purpose of rehabilitating for release into the wild.

We will keep saying it.
⚠️Wildlife are Not Pets ⚠️
Please share this post.
ALL wildlife need permit protection and ALL injured and orphaned wildlife need immediate care by trained, registered wildlife carers.

Thankfully, Candy and Sox are two of the lucky few who have been rescued from this neglect and now have a happy outcome.

But please, for their sake and for all other wildlife, help us share their story to spread the word that:
⚠️Wildlife Are Not (And Never Should Be) Pets ⚠️
Each one matters.
Each one deserves safety and protection from neglect and cruelty.
Each and every one.

Hand them over to your nearest Wildlife Shelter.
❌Not tomorrow.
❌Not next week.
✅Today.

George now after more than three months in care ❤️
“…and I just wanted all these lovely crafters, and the fabulous people that organised them, to know how much it's so very appreciated, I've seen it first hand from this end. ❤️
📣 • Kim Butler Volunteer at ACT Wildlife

Hi Animal Rescue Cooperative Craft Guild Crafters!
I hope that you enjoy reading some feedback from some of our dedicated carers about the beautiful and lifesaving craft you make ❤️

📣• From Janelle Olivia
Owner and full time carer at Taswild

“My goodness you are a skilled & generous bunch of people! 💓
A little care package from #arctasmania arrived in the post this morning & it's absolutely perfect for my current tiny tot.
He's a little Australian spider monkey AKA tiny baby brushtail possum joey. (I've called him Spidey 💙)
Weighing only 186g and on 3-4 hourly feeds he's going to love having all these amazing little possum houses to play and sleep in when he gets bigger!
But right now, he's straight in the Jebba snuggle sack. My oh my don't I wish they came in human sizes!

Thank you so much crafters. These are perfect! How can I possum-bly thank you (see what I did there 😆)”

📣 • From Kim Butler
Volunteer at ACT Wildlife:

“It is a most wonderful thing that you all crafters do for these precious little ones and I know their carers really love and appreciate them so much ❤️
I have been there when carers have received the incredible pouches you beautiful people make for them and they are so appreciative and heart is warmed with love ❤️ you should all be very proud, thank you!! Xx

They do mean so much to carers , saves them not only money and time but I know they really appreciate the love that goes into making each and every one!
To have so many lovely new pouches for their babies in care 💕 knowing they can put that mountain of washing off a bit lol and even throw out some of the very well worn or overly soiled and partly destroyed ones, knowing they have so many more to use now.

It's a real delight to see the joy of them receiving such wonderful gifts. It's better than any Christmas ive seen. 😆 and I just wanted all these lovely crafters, and the fabulous people that organised them, know how much it's so very appreciated, I've seen it first hand from this end. ❤️ I just want to say Thank you all, you are loved for what you do. ❤️”

📣 • From Janelle Olivia:

“Kim Butler not to mention, knowing that the little critters we have are so warm and toasty and comfortable because of the crafters skills and dedication to nailing these amazing designs! Saves us so much time having to come up with something suitable. 💚”

Thank you to all of our Craft Guild members who give their time and talent to make items to help the animals.
I hope that you have enjoyed reading this feedback from some of our dedicated carers ❤️

This is Mum and Bub Brushtail. Rescued during the floods. Mum was extremely emaciated and weak and we were unsure if she would make it.
Mum has now fully recovered her weight is maintained and her strength is back and they are going back for release tomorrow.
Rescue Cats Safe Haven is one of the longest friendships we've had in Tasmania. When ARC first started (long before the fires) in 2019, we reached out to Tasmania first and already knew Lesley from her work helping in NSW rescuers. From there we set up with Trish and Lesley the first ARC hubs in Australia along with Bec in Adelaide.

Yes, our first hubs were in Tasmania and Radelaide. Long before the fires.

Anyway, having the team come by today to do a pickup was awesome, this is still pulling from the enormous support load we've had come in from Rebecca, Joey, Sarah and the team over to ARC Tassie.

RCSH is one of the most well regarded and awesome rescuers in Tasmania. They also work very closely in helping others in rescue everywhere.

As with all the pickups it's litter, a bit of food (more to come we hope), UV torches and some helpful equipment for shelter work.

Thank you again for dropping over to the hub today!

Q+A for ARC's new AI Copywriter? Ask here.

If you have questions on the topic comment below.

Our AI content writer has received an overwhelming response, with 1000 queries sent in less than a week and positive feedback such as "this is amazing" and "I would never have written that".

Many organizations have used it for business cases and grant applications, and several more are using it for planning and other documentation.

So, how does it work? An AI is essentially a very large library of information that is constantly updated and cross-referenced using a series of smart query tools.

What you go looking for you will find. It is a true reflection of your intent.

What can it answer? Anything. The biggest advantage is the time saved when writing letters, plans, and responses. It quickly generates a complete letter with language that sounds ideal, which can then be edited and personalized for a more personalized touch and also to check the facts on critical points.

What did it cost? It didn't cost anything. The integration was done by ARC volunteers using openly available tools and our own team.

But who checks what the AI writes? That's up to you. Depending on the level of detail you want, if you ask it to write a plan, a letter, or even to debate something, you will receive solid information in return. However, it's always a good idea to double-check critical data just as you would with Google or any other reference material.

What is GPT AI?

GPT AI stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer Artificial Intelligence. It is a type of machine learning model that is designed to generate human-like text based on the input it receives.
How does GPT AI work?

GPT AI uses a neural network to analyze and understand the structure and patterns of language. It is trained on a large corpus of text, and then generates new text based on the patterns it has learned.

What are the benefits of using GPT AI for writing?

Using GPT AI for writing can save time and improve the quality of the writing. It can generate complete letters or responses quickly, and the language sounds natural and professional.

What are the limitations of GPT AI for writing?

GPT AI is not capable of understanding context or emotions, so it may not always generate text that is appropriate for the situation. Additionally, it may generate text that is repetitive or off-topic if not properly configured.

GPT AI is not always capable of recognizing context, meaning that it will provide an answer to a question regardless of your political beliefs, food preferences, or favorite colors.

While GPT AI may not always generate an answer that aligns with your personal preferences, this is what makes us human - the ability to have our own opinions and preferences.

Can GPT AI be used for other applications besides writing?

Yes, GPT AI can be used for a variety of applications, such as language translation, speech recognition, and image recognition.

Is GPT AI ethical?

As with any AI technology, there are ethical concerns around issues such as bias and privacy. It is important to develop and implement ethical guidelines and standards to ensure that GPT AI is used in a responsible and fair manner.

How can GPT AI be improved?

GPT AI can be improved by training it on more diverse and representative data, and by fine-tuning it for specific applications. Additionally, implementing human oversight and feedback can help improve the accuracy and relevance of the generated text.

Your questions? Ask away. We have had over 1000 queries now on the platform so it is already proven to be incredibly helpful, this process is now about how you get the most from it.

WIRES is the largest donor to Animal Rescue in Australia. One of the key programs they help with is Medical and Craft support across the country.

Please share this story as everyone should know about the craft guild and it's work with WIRES to help animals.

The WIRES and ARC medical/craft program has run for over 2 years now and tracks an astonishing amount of support across the country. From our hubs we ship out a tonnage (literally tons) of hand made crafted items that you cant buy, customised for possums, joeys and all sorts of Wildlife.

WIRES and ARC also ship medical. A lot of medical. Supplies of syringes, fluids, rescue kits, field dressings. Enormous amounts of support supplies are sent to wildlife carers all over the country with only two questions asked.

 - Do you have animals
 - Do you need help?

If you need medical, craft or small wildlife supplies log a request here at www.arcsupport.org.au/wildlife - thats the Wildlife support queue WIRES helps sponsor

The craft guild is the largest group of it's type on the planet. This is not a made up number. Over 200 thousand members and thousands of contributors supporting the creation of crafted items for animals all over the country. It's big. When we recently did the callout for making support items in the floods we were talking "shipping containers" big.

Everyone in the Craft Guild matters. We track a mammoth amount of support from our Wildlife and WIRES partnership. You can see the stats on the dashboard here.

https://arcsupport.org.au/wiresdashboard/

WIRES is the largest donor to Wildlife rescue groups in Australia, this is an undisputed fact. Tens of millions have been assigned and spent in causes all over Australia.

This is a lot of small support projects ranging from medical supplies and craft through to larger support items when we can afford it. This funding comes from many sources in donations including WIRES and others.

You can also donate to help the Wildlife rescuers we support here www.arcsupport.org.au/donate

Why did WIRES pick ARC for this project? We have capacity already, we have invested in supporting facilities and bring quality partners to shore up the load. We also have Wildlife experts on team who know what to do.

What do we do with/for WIRES.

ARC's role in life is an agile support ground team for rescuers. Because of the work we do with small rescue and our hubs we can reach out fast to hot spots and help rescuers grow sustainably.
We also have the direct day to day positive engagement with hundreds of rescuers. When time/funding is right we can action that help either ourselves, through sponsors and with WIRES. This helps them see places that need focus and offer to help.

What do WIRES do for ARC?

The knowledge and buy in of WIRES in NSW is immeasurable. They are not just "the biggest in the country" but the carers have decades of experience, contacts, skills, field work and quality you cannot get by turning up in the last year. This means we can be more effective in what we do to help across all of rescue.

When someone sees a WIRES logo on a hub or on an email it means quality. Quality training, systems, processes and hundreds of animals in direct care. They bring credibility to anyone they work with. WIRES has the systems, experience and processes that many dont.

End of Financial Year – EOFY - Tax deductible donations to help Animals in need!

You can make a tax deductible donation here - www.arcsupport.org.au/donate

A tax deductible donation that ensures that custom supportive garments and medical assistance are given directly to Wildlife Rescuers and Carers... Australia wide – Every day.

This is our BIG CALLOUT for the year for donations to help the Craft Guild!

We spend donations on Animal Rescue.

We put money into shelters for:
Food, rescue and medical.

We spend it on postage of Craft Guild crafted items directly to carers and rescuers – all at no cost to them.

We spend it on fabric for making custom items - if the fabric needed can't be sourced through donations or freecycle.

We are an audited charity helping animals in need.
©ARC is part of Animal Rescue Support Incorporated ABN 25151709481 - a registered charity in Australia

The Craft Guild is a global community of innovative creators that work together to make custom supportive products for animals in need. Through this we save lives, improve care, reduce the burden on rescuers and bring global awareness to the plight of our unique and precious wildlife.

We make craft. It saves lives.

You can make a tax deductible donation here - www.arcsupport.org.au/donate

So what do you do with all that craft?

This is one of the most innovative and useful programs on the planet. The Craft Guild has more than 200,000 members worldwide and as the need arises they turn out custom craft items that are physically used in day to day rescue. Everyday.

This is not a wasted effort, everything from possum palaces to joey pouches are created by people all over the world and are then used in the field. You cant buy this stuff, you can only make it . . and that’s what your craft guild does.

The ARC Craft Guild has a large team of national moderators, central clearing and logistics to get the craft where it is needed. We talk to Wildlife rescuers all day and know what they want, what seasons we are heading into and what is needed.
Then we ship the craft to them... free of charge (along with other items they may need).

Often this is the only care they have received in months, so we can be a vital lifeline to supporting them. It’s important, the work of wildlife rescuers matter.

Your tax deductible donation will help us continue supporting the wildlife rescuers who spend every day rescuing and caring for animals.
Please donate here: - www.arcsupport.org.au/donate

Support for Tonga continues long after the volcano that devastated the island has been forgotten. The damage to the community is extensive and supply lines are only now recovering.

You can donate to this project here. https://arcsupport.org.au/donations/tonga/

Thanks to Royal Canin, Petbarn foundation and hundreds of donors, medical supplies and even Wildlife support orgs we have been able to get another container load of supplies to the island.
Joey from the Gippsland hub team arranged this massive load of a full container from the team.

This was no easy feat with huge supply loads coming into the Gippo superhub and then outbounded to container ship for supply. It's a big job!

Where does it go? The team at Tonga Animal Welfare Society immediately get it out to help animals in need, with a massive redistribution across the island in FTW support, food, medical visits and support for locals.
You can see some of that work here https://www.facebook.com/Tonga-Animal-Welfare.../photos/...

ARC are Feeding Dogs in Regional Rescues and Rural Pounds
Australian K9 Rescue Vic got in touch with ARC via Petbarn Foundation as their previous source of pet food donations had dried up.

Luckily Sarah and the team at our ARC Leichhardt Hub had received a big donation of Royal Canin premium dog food so they worked their transport magic and got it shipped at a hugely reduced cost thanks to our friends at Domestic Freight Express.

8 pallets of premium dog food valued at over $25,000 were sent to Australian K9 Rescue VIC and Kerry her team of amazing volunteers jumped on it and started distributing to local rescues and regional pounds.

When Australian K9 Rescue VIC collect dogs from rural pounds they send their transporters out with dog food, which helps the next dogs with good food so they’re healthier when they come into care 🥰

From Sarah:

Let's hear from Kerry:

Today a big truck arrived with pallets of premium quality dog food #Royalcanin for us to distribute to our fellow animal welfare groups who are struggling with the day to day financial impacts of running a rescue during these difficult times .

One of our first priorities is to work through getting a delivery to our wonderful rural pound partners that on some occasions actually are forced to buy food out of their own pockets to feed the dogs 😞
The volunteers and of course our beautiful rescue mascot Pocahontas are busy now on loading the pallets into our storage area at base camp while we start planning the deliveries

⭐️Two huge pallets full of pet food, farm animal food and other essential supplies to help the animals in their community survive and thrive following the devastating floods.

Here is Margie from Wisemans Ferry Flood Community Volunteers:

“The March 2022 flood was one of the biggest we have seen in many, many years. The entire Eastern Seaboard was hit particularly hard. Many lost everything.
The Wisemans Ferry community was saddened and shocked at the damage to property and livelihoods. We were also aware of the very personal trauma felt by many in our area and surrounds as the water rose.
Our community and those from far afield stepped up and helped as they saw the urgent need unfold.

You guys were one of those who helped so much !
Thank you for the many products you assisted us with.

Animal concern was one of the biggest issues.
Many more worried about their pets than their homes and properties being flooded.

The animal food and other items were distributed to those in serious need. Many recipients were tearful.

We are truly grateful and humbled by your kindness .

⚠️Wildlife Are NOT Pets ⚠️
🖊 Please share this post/comment your experiences/thoughts

❌Raised by a member of the public on cows milk.
❌Passed around to be cuddled by young children...
😢Being only 900 grams...poor little Shirley would not have survived....”

This is Shirley - a Western Grey kangaroo joey and this week’s
⚠️Wildlife are Not Pets ⚠️
story comes from ❌Shane at ❌BWR in Western Australia

Shirley’s story needs to be told, shared and re-shared to raise awareness EVERYWHERE so that the ignorant cruelty that happened to Shirley never EVER happens again to any wildlife.

Let’s continue Shirley’s story:
“Shirley got sick...so the MOP ( member of the public) who was keeping her contacted BWR...I took Shirley into care ...she was literally skin on bone...”

You can donate to help ARC continue to help wildlife like Shirley here: https://www.arcsupport.org.au/donate

“Shirley came from a very compromised beginning...
I stabilised Shirley and because in pinky season I already have so many in care ... I asked registered wildlife carer Jenny McNeill if she could take Shirley into care...Jenny is one of the best carers I know....within a few weeks...little Shirley was thriving....and look at her now xx Thankyou Jenny “

This is a sad story that happens all too often when misguided members of the public selfishly choose to keep wildlife as household pets - always causing suffering, and usually resulting in a tragic outcome for those animals. Exactly as happened to this poor helpless little one.

Bridgetown Wildlife Rescue has had many different wildlife species handed into them - when people who have tried to keep them as pets realise that
 ‘Wildlife make Terrible Pets’
and that they were totally out of their depth trying to raise one.

Thankfully, Shirley is one of the lucky few who was rescued from this neglect and now has a happy outcome.
From Shane:
“Shirley has recovered and grown. She is coming back to Bridgetown Wildlife Rescue sanctuary with her brother and sister tommorow.. this will be their forever home at BWR xxxx “

But please, for Shirley’s sake and for all other wildlife, help us share her story to spread the word that:

⚠️Wildlife Are Not (And Never Should Be) Pets ⚠️

Each one matters.
Each one deserves safety and protection from neglect and cruelty.
Each and every one.

Hand them over to your nearest Wildlife Shelter.
❌Not tomorrow.
❌Not next week.
✅Today.

TRANSFORMING YOUNG LIVES

RuffTRACK is an awesome charity helping young people (13 – 17 years old) who are falling through the cracks and need support.

The vulnerable teenagers are encouraged to discover their self-worth by establishing bonds with dogs where they also learn about care, trust, community and responsibility.

Thanks to the @Petbarn Foundation we regularly donate pet food and supplies to RuffTRACKS to support the important mission to “Transforming young lives one paw at a time”
